Dry Brushing

Dry Brushing is my new favorite skin care routine and I’ll tell you why!

Dry Brushing is an exfoliating technique that not only feels great but has many health benefits. It increases blood circulation, removes dead skin cells, helps to eliminate ingrown hairs, and is great for digestion! Yes…digestion! Some naturopathic doctors believe that by dry brushing you are stimulating the lymph nodes right under your skin which helps to remove toxins and waste from your body. Lymphatic drainage aids in reducing inflammation, bloating and illness. Dry brushing is also known to invigorate and energize. I’ll take that! What about you?

Start at your feet and sweep the dry brush in an upward motion towards your heart. Brush your legs, torso, belly, back, arms and armpits. If you choose to dry brush your neck and face opt for a softer, smaller tool. Your brush should be made of natural bristles. Dry brushes come in a variety of sizes and lengths. One with a long handle is perfect for reaching your back!

Dry brush before showering and moisturizing. As you begin to dry brush, you will see all of the dead skin cells float off your body like snowflakes. It’s actually quite cool.
